Gasket testing
in our accredited test laboratory

In our test laboratory, we use the latest testing technology to determine the deformation and sealing properties of your gaskets, reliably and accurately.
We carry out tests according to various

  • German,
  • European and
  • American standards.

We also do tests according to

  • customer specifications,
  • industry specification or
  • plant operator specifications.

Most of the test rigs in use are uniquely developed by AMTEC, tailored to the specifications of the standards.

Details for Packing and Valve Testing you will find in the menue Valves.

Range of gasket testing services

The complete range of services provided by our test laboratory is available for download. Ask us for prices - without obligation. We can certainly make you an interesting offer, particularly for multiple testing.

Compression Tests

… for determining the deformation properties depending on the contact pressure and temperature of the gasket:

Compression tests are performed in our TEMESfl.ai1 multifunctional test rig. Our test laboratory is equipped with several test rigs of this type, so we can test gaskets quickly and at very short notice.

We are able to test the elastic-plastic deformation of gaskets with an external diameter of up to 170 mm, at a maximum force of 1000 kN and a maximum temperature of 600 °C.

Additionally, using our special test equipment TEMESfl.lt, we are able to perform compression tests at cryogenic temperatures, down to -150 °C.

Compressive creep testing

… to determine the compression modulus, depending on the contact pressure and the maximum permissible contact pressure of a gasket at room temperature or at elevated temperatures:

We also use the TEMESfl.ai1 test rigs to carry out compressive creep testing in our test laboratory. The external diameter of the test piece is limited to 170 mm, the available force is 1000 kN and the maximum temperature is 600 °C.

Creep/relaxation testing

… for determining the creep/relaxation behaviour of gaskets depending on the contact pressure, the temperature and the stiffness of the test set up:

The relaxation test rig TEMESfl.relax is available -besides our multifunctional test rig TEMESfl.ai1 – especially for the investigation of the creep/relaxation of sealing elements.

The application limits are a test temperature of 600 °C and a force of 1000 kN, the outer diameter of the test piece is limited to 170 mm.

Leakage testing

… to determining the sealing properties depending on the internal pressure and the contact pressure of a gasket:

We also use the TEMESfl.ai1 test rigs to perform leakage testing in our test laboratory. Leakage testing is normally carried out at room temperature. The external diameter of the test piece is therefore limited to 170 mm and the available force is 1000 kN.

Leakage tests at temperature as well as temperature variation tests can be performed at -150 °C up to +600 °C.

For component testing of real flanged connections, we developed the TEMESta.luft test rig. It is usually used to investigate gaskets with DN40/PN40 geometries, a temperature exposure of up to 400 °C is possible.

Special tests

… for developing new gasket materials or suitability testing according to special

  • company specifications (e. g. Shell, Total, …):

In addition to standard testing, we also develop individual test procedures for your field of application. For example, we have already carried out tests for high-temperature applications up to 900 °C.

  • Fire-safe tests or
  • blow-out tests

are also possible in our laboratory.

Describe your application and we will work out the appropriate test procedure for you.
