Calculation of Flange Connections according to EN 1591-1

Contents

Fundamentals

  • behaviour of the entire flanges-bolts-gasket system
  • calculation algorithm of EN 1591-1
  • recent developments in standardization
  • gasket characteristics
  • calculation standards

User training TEMESfl.cal

  • software structure of TEMESfl.cal
  • data bases
  • sample calculations
  • practical application of the software TEMESfl.cal

Objective

The test standard EN 13555 as well as the calculation standard EN 1591-1 have been revised recently. What are the consequences for users in the application? What are the requirements in regards to emission regulations?

In the workshop we cover the theory of flange connection performance, calculation standards and gasket characteristics.

Subsequently we exercise to apply the calculation standards with the AMTEC calculation software TEMESfl.cal. In this part of the workshop you learn how to implement the algorithm and how to define relevant material data or use predefined data base records. We run through several example calculations with different geometries and features. Then you will perform calculations on your own and train how to use the software TEMES fl.cal. Our training centre is equipped with PCs to be used in pairs of participants.

Who should attend

Engineers who are involved in the piping design and analysis field, quality and safety personnel in the chemical and petrochemical industry, in conventional and nuclear power stations as well as manufacturers in the fluid technology sector and fittings engineering.
