Using the test rig TEMES fl.ai1,
can be performed. This makes this test rig a real all-rounder, justifiably carrying the suffix "ai1", short for "all in one".
Originally designed to perform tests according German standards, the range of applications has been steadily expanded. Actually, the most important test standard in Europe is certainly EN 13555; according to this standard the gasket factors required for integrity proof and tightness analysis according to EN 1591-1 can to be determined.
Other standards, that have been implemented, are for example ASTM F2836 (Room Temperature Tightness Test - ROTT), ASTM WK61856 (Hot Blow Out Test - HOBT), ASME B16.20 ...
The TEMES fl.ai1 test rig is a servo-controlled hydraulic press. The test rig has a modular design, so different components can be used depending on the type of test. This in particular applies to the cooling, insulating and heating plates. Additionally, it is possible to install different sealing faces to examine different gasket geometries.
Recording of the sealing force is performed using a load cell mounted on the base plate; deformation of the gasket is recorded by displacement sensors at three points around the circumference. In addition, temperatures are measured at various locations on the test rig, so that the temperature profile is known at all times.
Convenient software enables the acquisition, display and storage of measured values. The entire test procedure can also be controlled by software, so that fully automatic tests can be carried out according to standard specifications (e.g. EN, DIN, ASTM) or according to individual specifications.
The measuring principle used as standard in leakage tests is based on the pressure decay method using the differential pressure procedure. The membrane valves required for the various functions are controlled by the software, which ensures that the tests can be run fully automatically. As an option, leakage measurement with a helium mass spectrometer is available. With these two measurement methods a wide range of tighness requirements is covered.
Generally, leakage tests are carried out at constant internal pressure and different levels of surface pressure. However, thanks to automatic filling and venting, it is also possible to carry out tests at several levels of internal pressure.
The TEMESfl.ai test rig is also used in our test laboratory. We look forward to determining the characteristics of your gaskets. You can find more information on gasket testing at AMTEC under the menu Test laboratory.
